‘Black and White Photography’ and the deeper meaning of photography and life.

Black and white photography as an expressive and creative photographer offers a true deeper dive into the emotions that can be found within us all that is if the photographer is present enough and aware enough to allow in his practice of photographing merge with and in flow with the subject that on a meaningful level a higher message can be accessed. The black and white approach and sentiment may be a helpful and empowering photographic process that I would hope to stand the test of time as regards the message that lies beneath the pigment on the paper or the dots on your screen.

The timeless effect of a monochrome photograph is a feeling as opposed to the content on a physical purely visual feedback loop of interpretation by the brain. The true essence of fine art photography in my view is expressed using a wide range of tones from white to black beautifully arranged within the composition of the four walled frame of the image. But of course, the impact and net effect of any image produced is only as good as what the viewer allows themselves to perceive. So, then, you see what you are, based on how you have managed yourself up until that point.  Truly enlightening images will nudge the viewer closer to a sense of being nobody no place no thing and for a moment or two and may tap into what is referred to as the ‘true self’ the seat of awareness state beyond the conditioned mind. This energy that is ever present and golden in nature, the essence of us and what unites us without thinking is of course the real us. The greater good resides on this side of our being where we evolve not to be secondary to the environment and realise that our reaction to it is a diss ease of being ok with something that is frankly not under our control. This new awakening is where I can help you and you can help me on this journey of life, and of course all the resisting and attachment dissipates… Win win my friend. This grateful understanding of the challenges humans face, yet at the same time sings the praises of our very existence in the first place allows us to realise that maybe I don’t need to try so hard to strive and stress to what end anyway, time is not linear you know, the destination is mirage of the mind polarising you from your attached outcome.

You have enough, you are enough don’t let them make you think you are not, turn that dial down to mute and discover a new journey of potential within, then everything in the physical world that you would like will manifest. Who knew the simple act of being a fine art documentary photographer would have such opportunity of reality-based thinking, in so far of course that is my particular reality!
